2018 Racing Lunch

Tuesday 30th October 2018

We are excited to announce that our special guests for this year’s Racing Lunch will include Wayne Hawkes and Rupert Legh.

One third of Team Hawkes, Wayne oversees the stable’s Flemington training base and has launched the race careers of some of Team Hawkes’s best gallopers over the last decade, most notably Chautauqua, the world’s top-rated sprinter in 2016 and 2017.

Rupert is one of Australia’s most prominent thoroughbred owners with many Spring hopefuls in training.  He is also the principal owner of Chautauqua and recently faced the sad decision, with Wayne, to retire “The Grey Flash” after the 6 time Group 1 winner was unable to overcome ongoing barrier issues.

Join us to hear Wayne and Rupert share some stories of Chautauqua’s brilliant wins - and late career challenges – and give us an ‘insider’ perspective on who to back during the Spring Carnival (possibly Grunt, one of Rupert’s new stars!)
